Higher Education and Student Experience
The University of South Australia engaged 6 Degrees Consulting to enable the development of a comprehensive Student Engagement Framework for UniSA.
Higher education is becoming an increasingly challenging industry with complexities arising from higher education reform, increased competition from new entrants into the Australian market, and for international students, greater availability of online study options.
6 Degrees Consulting met with approximately 200 students, staff and industry representatives through the facilitation of focus groups, designed to engage all members in effective dialogue to explore what is important for students, how they want to engage with UniSA, and outcomes they want to achieve during their studies.
Through this work, UniSA has a deeper understanding of what is most important to students, staff and industry partners, and therefore has a better understanding on how to gain greater student engagement across the University.
Customer-Centric Business Transformation
Resthaven provides outstanding care and support for older people and their carers in metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia. Operating since 1935, Resthaven is an esteemed not-for-profit organisation and among just a handful of aged care providers in Australia that offer the full suite of aged care service options.
As Resthaven moved to modernise its operations, it was aware of the challenges of future proofing the organisation without compromising its high level of service delivery.
Resthaven recognised its progress and positioning in the industry would be best supported by up-to-date technology, systems, and processes, as it evolved with major sector reform. As a trusted long-term partner, 6 Degrees Consulting aligned with Resthaven’s ethos to provide a high-quality framework and methodology by which to execute the ‘Ignite Program’ and provided the ongoing governance to support this complex program of works.
6 Degrees Consulting ensured the desired level of support and subject matter expertise was maintained throughout the rollout and transition and continued this support post-transition.
As part of this process 6 Degrees assisted Resthaven to implement a rigorous, clear and detailed procurement process that received praise from vendors, but most importantly ensured that Resthaven selected the right solutions to deliver and support it’s needs, whilst future proofing Resthaven for growth.
An audit and assessment highlighted necessary improvements and replacements in Resthaven’s systems, and a five-year body of work has followed to deliver and implement a master plan and roadmap that ultimately saw Resthaven transition away from its core legacy system, toward modern, best of breed and scalable solutions that will sustain future growth.
6 Degrees Consulting considered how best to minimise disruption to business operations, and ensured the roadmap provided the largest benefits and return on investment while supporting the continuous improvement of customer experience.
With a full range of aged care services offered, the supporting systems being replaced included:
– ERP/ core financial solution
– Procure to pay
– Payroll
– Electronic Medication Management
– Specific community services solution (incorporating clinical documentation, rostering and scheduling, client package management and billing)
– Residential Services Rostering
– Recruitment and onboarding, and
– Self-service portal.
We recognised the challenges of moving from an enterprise solution, and we have worked to select and implement bespoke solutions, while balancing a sophisticated integration layer to ensure the solutions are able to share data and provide the necessary data for reporting requirements.
Resthaven’s extensive transformation was supported by comprehensive program and project management, business analytics, customer analysis, benefits analysis and an ongoing training and change management program, to maintain stability throughout the transition.
